Description/Job Summary

This full-time position, hiring for both 1st and 2nd shift, is responsible for the efficient assembly and manual plating of individual trusses in accordance with shop drawings. In this fast-paced, team-oriented environment, projects are expected to be completed within the time frame specified and following the Quality Standards for Roofs and Floors.

The ideal candidate will be a quick learner who is team-oriented and ready to step into a fast-paced position that has the potential to lead to a lifelong career.

Essential Functions:

  • Assembles building material components such as wall panels, roof and floor trusses. 
  • Processes include insertion or positioning of materials, clamping, splicing, fitting parts and use of both hand and power tools.
  • Places metal reinforcement plates over connecting joints and connects parts at joints, using a hammer.
  • Verifies dimensions of pre-cut parts and accuracy of assembly.
  • Ensures that assembled items meet specific quality specifications; may propose process improvements in order to increase finished quality or efficiency of assembly processes. 
  • Places proper material into setup specified on cut sheet layout.
  • Maintains machine cleanup procedures and daily cleanup in area.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and maintains company professional standards.     

Additional Competencies:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
  • Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints
  • Must be able to read a tape measure and use a hammer

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment where individual is exposed to extremes of seasonal heat and cold as well as the potentially dangerous conditions of wood truss manufacturing. 
  • Work can be performed outdoors where individual is exposed to the elements.
  • Exposed to noise levels consistent with building (hammering) and the operation of large, commercial saws. 
  • Exposed to the saw dust generated by commercial saws.
  • May be exposed to vibrations, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles and toxic chemicals.
  • Eye, ear, head, and hand protection is required depending on the operation being performed.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, repeated lifting up to 80 pounds and reaching with arms and hands.
  • Uses hands to grasp, handle, and feel.
  • Requires manual dexterity and strength to use a manual hammer for long periods of time. 
  • Requires frequent stooping, bending, stretching.
  • Requires working under stressful or emergency conditions requiring high concentration and energy level.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Monday - Friday and 1/2 day Saturday. 40+ hours a week.

Required Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
