84 Lumber is seeking an Entry-Level Industrial Engineer to learn the business hands on from the ground up to support our multi-state building components manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will utilize industrial engineering concepts, manufacturing operations knowledge and business acumen to partner with cross functional teams to achieve organizational business goals and objectives. The position will ideally be based out of our Team Headquarters in Eighty Four, PA.
Collaborate with Plant Managers and assist in design, development, improvement and implementation of manufacturing processes and procedures through the application of Lean, continuous improvement and other Industrial Engineering concepts that result in sufficient capacity to meet customer demand while also promoting operator safety, product quality and process efficiency.
Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials, conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.
Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production costs, reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements.
Provide production support including, but not limited to, implementing process improvements, troubleshooting equipment and addressing operator inquiries.
Create and modify manufacturing process documentation.
Assist in identifying equipment needs on the production floor and evaluating internal and external options for sourcing such equipment.
Work with external vendors as needed.
Utilize engineering methods to support the development of optimal process flows, equipment layouts and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment and technology).
Develop standardized work instructions so operators can perform work safely, with the proper quality and in the proper time.
Assist maintenance with developing and coordinating preventative maintenance and repair services following manufacturer instructions and established procedures and requesting special service.
Maximize existing and new technology to support safe and efficient operations.
Must be able to interact effectively with associates to gather data for process improvements and to assist in implementation. This may include observing and documenting processes and collecting data in manufacturing areas during various production phases.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
CAD experience/knowledge preferred.
Candidate must possess good project management skills and initiative in taking on and completing projects.
Relocation available based on eligibility.
Bi-Lingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
Travel up to 40% between different Components Plants
Minimum Bachelor's Degree - Accredited Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Degree.
